Ministries and Activities at St. John's

Our main gathering takes place on Sundays and everything that goes on behind the scenes is geared towards making our Sunday worship joyful and spiritually edifying. The success of St. John's is fostered by the groups who meet and thrive here, building up our church community and sharing God's love with the world.

We welcome all who seek a deeper relationship with God and a warm, inclusive community rooted in the Episcopal tradition. Whether you are a lifelong Episcopalian or exploring faith for the first time, there is a place for you here at St. John the Baptist.

Children & Families

  • Our children grow in their relationship with Jesus by participating in an experiential learning program called the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
  • Children participate in worship and serve as acolytes, readers, and bring up the gifts.
  • Our most recent addition is a soft space where children can engage in worship in ways that age and developmentally appropriate.
  • We also have an annual pool party, Easter egg hunt and Christmas pageant.

Welcoming All People

  • St. John's is home to an amazing tapestry of people of all ages, from various national and ethnic backgrounds, with some having differing abilities and some from the LGBTQ community. We strive to create an environment where everyone is welcome and belongs.
  • Our Sociable Seniors group meets at a local restaurant each month to share a meal and socialize and everyone is welcome.
  • Over the past few years, we have been sharing our campus with St. Anthony's Coptic Orthodox Church, as they look for a permanent facility in which they can expand their ministry.

Connecting with our Community & Wider World

  • St. John supports Settlement House by collecting donations of nonperishable food and other supplies for those in need in our community.
  • We are active partners with Angels Over Cliffs, a local ministry that supports unhoused families living in motels.
  • Every year on the Feast of St. Francis we collect items for animals at the Corona Animal Shelter.
  • St. John's has been sponsoring a Scout Troop and a Venture Troop for many years.
  • St. John's has been renting space to AA and Al-anon groups offering a space for them to meet.
  • We are a regular participant in the Relay for Life raising funds to end cancer and continue research.

Voice for Justice

  • St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Corona, California is a vibrant and active part of the community and a proud representative of Christ to the world. We stand alongside our neighbors, advocating for justice, compassion, and the dignity of every human being as called by our baptismal covenant.
  • Every Sunday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. we meet on the corner out front of the church to share a message of peace, love and mercy with passersby. We sing songs, pray and wave to share the light of Christ with the world.

There are many volunteers involved in our Sunday activities. St. John's has a small but dedicated choir who enhance our worship on Sundays and special feast days. Trained acolytes, lay readers and lay Eucharistic ministers serve at the altar with our priest. The Altar Guild takes care of the sacred tasks of preparing the altar for worship and the cleaning and caring of the vestments, vessels, and linens. They oversee the decoration of the sanctuary for special occasions and maintain the supplies on hand. The Julia chapter of the Daughters of the King supports the church with their prayers and service and members of the order are available to pray with individual parishioners during communion on Sundays.
